Prasidh Krishna ruled out of India’s ODI series against New Zealand

India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand after failing to secure fitness clearance. The right-arm pacer is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained during India’s tour of England and requires more time to build the workload needed for a return to competitive cricket.

Krishna had been included in India’s initial ODI squad, but his involvement was conditional on passing a fitness assessment. He will now miss the series, which begins in Auckland on 4 November and concludes with two matches at Mount Maunganui.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will remain with the India squad for the opening ODI in Auckland. He will then link up with India A, where he is expected to gain valuable match practice before the two-Test ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand begins on 19 November 2026.

Mohammed Siraj will also join India A for the second four-day fixture in preparation for the Test series. Siraj is included in India’s ODI group for both phases of the one-day tour, while Reddy is listed only for the first match.

Shubman Gill will captain India in the first three ODIs, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Reddy completing the squad for the opener.

For the fourth and fifth matches, Shreyas Iyer will take over as captain. The squad for that stage includes Rohit, Kohli, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Axar, Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav.

The second ODI is scheduled for 7 November in Wellington, followed by the third in Hamilton on 10 November. The final two games will be played at Mount Maunganui on 13 and 15 November.

The ODI series follows India’s five-match T20I campaign against New Zealand. India had secured an unassailable 3-0 lead after victories in Christchurch and Wellington, including a six-wicket win in the third match, with the remaining T20Is scheduled for Auckland on 30 October and Hamilton on 1 November.
