Ireland leg-spinner Ben White has announced his retirement from representative cricket at the age of 28, concluding an international career with 41 wickets across Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
White made his final appearance for Ireland against Bangladesh in December 2025. He first emerged through the Ireland Wolves pathway during their tour of Bangladesh in early 2021 before making his senior international debut later that year.
The tall wrist-spinner was selected in Ireland’s squads for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cups in 2021, 2024 and 2026. He was most effective in the shortest format, taking a T20I wicket every 20 balls.
His best T20I figures were 4/20 against Afghanistan in 2024, with his ability to combine flight and changes of pace proving a key part of his bowling.
White also had a notable domestic career with Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights, Munster Reds, Phoenix and CSNI. He topped the 2021 Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy wicket charts with 17 wickets and produced a match-winning 5/34 in the 2024 Irish Senior Cup final.
Reflecting on his decision, White thanked Cricket Ireland for helping him fulfil his childhood ambition of representing his country. He said appearances at three T20 World Cups and playing Test cricket were achievements he would always be proud of, adding that he would remain grateful for the experiences and memories from his career.
