India complete 3-0 ODI sweep over Zimbabwe with dominant Vadodara win

India completed a commanding 3-0 sweep of Zimbabwe in their ICC Women’s Championship 2025–29 series, cruising to an eight-wicket victory in the third ODI at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara.

Zimbabwe chose to bat after winning the toss but could not withstand India’s disciplined bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma produced the defining performance, taking a career-best maiden five-wicket haul with 5/39 from her 10 overs.

The visitors were dismissed for 131 in 39.5 overs, with Modester Mupachikwa top-scoring with 37. Captain Josephine Nkomo also offered resistance, but Zimbabwe struggled to build partnerships against India’s spin-led attack and were unable to post a competitive total.

India’s reply was emphatic from the outset. Openers Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma attacked the target of 132, establishing complete control before India reached 133/2 in only 17 overs. Rawal remained unbeaten on 59 from 56 balls, while Verma struck 51 from just 26 deliveries to set up the comfortable finish.

The result followed India’s nine-wicket win in the opening ODI, when Zimbabwe were bowled out for 197. Shree Charani led the attack with 4/23, before Rawal completed an unbeaten century as India reached 200/1 in 27.1 overs.

India were even more dominant in the second match, posting 328/6 after centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma. Harmanpreet made 126, while Deepti finished unbeaten on 106, and Zimbabwe could only respond with 207 in their 50 overs, losing by 121 runs.

Rawal was India’s leading batter across the three matches, compiling 220 runs, including one century and two half-centuries. Vaishnavi finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with nine dismissals, while Charani claimed five wickets and played a key role in controlling the middle overs.

Zimbabwe’s most consistent batter was Beloved Biza, whose fighting 62 in the opening ODI provided one of the team’s strongest contributions. Nkomo and Mupachikwa also produced useful resistance during the series against a dominant Indian side.

The sweep gives India six valuable points in the Women’s Championship and moves them to seventh in the standings. Zimbabwe, who are making their Championship debut, remain 10th. The series also brought ranking gains for India, with Rawal rising seven places to a career-best 21st among ODI batters, Harmanpreet moving to eighth and Deepti climbing to 23rd among batters and fourth among all-rounders.
