Afghanistan Beat UAE to Register 1st Tri-Nation Series Victory Ibrahim Zadran (63) and Sediqullah Atal (54) both scored half-centuries, while Rashid Khan (3/21) and Sharafuddin Ashraf (3/24) delivered standout performances with the ball to lead AfghanAtalan to a comprehensive 38-run victory over the UAE and register their first victory in the UAE Tri-Nation Series 2025. Batting first after losing the toss, AfghanAtalan capitalized on the solid contributions from Zadran and Atal, along with late fireworks from Karim Jannat (23* off 10), to post a total of 188/4 in the first innings. In response, the UAE started strongly, reaching 90/2 by the 10th over. However, the tide turned when their skipper, Mohammad Wasim, fell for a brisk 67, which opened the door for Afghanistan's bowlers. Sharafuddin Ashraf and Rashid Khan both performed brilliantly, with Ashraf taking 3/24 and Rashid Khan returning with 3/21 to help the team secure a comfortable 38-run win. Rashid Khan achieved a remarkable milestone as he completed 165 wickets in T20Is to become the all-time leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket, surpassing Tim Southee (164). Sharafuddin Ashraf was named Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance. With this victory, AfghanAtalan have opened their account in the UAE Tri-Nation Series and are now set to face Pakistan in their third game at the same venue.
