Afghanistan will take a strong historical record into their ODI Tri-Nation Series meeting with Zimbabwe, having won 20 of their 30 completed one-day internationals against them. They have not lost to Zimbabwe in the format for the past eight years.
The two teams are scheduled to meet in Abu Dhabi on October 19, with Bangladesh also involved in the series. Afghanistan will face Bangladesh at the same venue on October 21.
The tri-series runs from October 17 to 23, with the first two matches in Abu Dhabi before the remaining games move to Sharjah. Afghanistan’s ODI squad will be led by Rahmat Shah, who recently guided the team to a 4-0 series victory over Ireland.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the vice-captain and wicketkeeper, while the squad also includes Ibrahim Zadran, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Fazal Haq Farooqi and Yamin Ahmadzai.
Bangladesh will enter the competition without designated ODI captain Litton Das, who was ruled out with a right hip joint injury. Tawhid Hridoy will lead Bangladesh in his absence.
